Quetta Electric Supply Company is a public sector utility and the area-wide largest distribution company of Pakistan. Its area of operation comprised 32 districts of Balochistan Province except district Lasbela. Administratively, QESCO controls this area through its six operation circles namely Central, Loralai, Pishin, Sibi, Mekran & Khuzdar.
Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) was incorporated as a public limited company on May 13, 1998, under the Companies Ordinance 1984. QESCO started its business on July 1, 1998. As a result of WAPDA’s process of corporatization and commercialization, its former electric area boards were transformed into companies and QESCO took over the business of WAPDA’s assets and liabilities. However, DISCOs are currently under the administrative control of the Ministry of Water and Power, Government of Pakistan.
